Of the 217 players that heard their names called at the 2018 NHL Draft over the weekend, 59 of them had come through at least one of LEGACY Global Sports’ hockey tournaments, including 10 first-round selections.
From first overall pick Rasmus Dahlin (Sweden Selects, World Selects Invitational ‘13) to seventh-round selection Cole Krygier (Detroit Compuware, Warrior AAA Invitational ‘12), LGS Hockey and its elite events continue to be the birthplace of many future stars’ hockey careers.
With 31 NHL teams, 26 ultimately selected at least one player with a history linked to LGS Hockey. The New York Islanders set the pace for the weekend, drafting four players: Oliver Wahlstrom (multiple teams, multiple events), Bode Wilde (Hockey Essentials, World Selects Invitational ‘15), Jakub Skarek (Czech Selects, World Selects Invitational ‘13) and Blade Jenkins (multiple teams, multiple events).
LGS Hockey truly has a global impact on the hockey community, reaching players from seven different countries before they were ultimately drafted this year, including Canada (24), United States (20), Sweden (6), Czech Republic (3), Finland (2), Russia (2) and Slovakia (2).
